About The Pizza Plant
The Pizza Plant, located at 55 S Madison Ave in Pasadena, CA, is a pioneering restaurant that specializes in 100% plant-based, organic pizzas. Founded by Marvin V Acuna, a former film and television producer turned passionate advocate for plant-based living, The Pizza Plant offers a unique dining experience that combines delicious, innovative vegan cuisine with a strong commitment to social responsibility. This fast-casual pizza restaurant has gained recognition not only for its flavorful and nutrient-dense pizzas but also for its charitable mission to support the local community.
At The Pizza Plant, every pizza is crafted with organic, whole-food ingredients, ensuring that customers enjoy a healthy and environmentally conscious meal. The restaurantβs menu features a variety of plant-based pizzas that appeal to vegans, vegetarians, and anyone seeking a wholesome alternative to traditional pizza. The crust is noted for its light, airy texture with a satisfying crunch, setting it apart from conventional pizza offerings. This attention to quality and flavor has earned The Pizza Plant a loyal following in Pasadena and beyond.
Beyond its brick-and-mortar location, The Pizza Plant operates the first custom-made, 100% organic, plant-based pizza truck in the United States. This mobile kitchen allows the business to reach a wider audience across the Los Angeles area, appearing at events such as the Highland Park Block Party, Vegan Street Fair Sundays in North Hollywood, and Venice Beach. The food truck not only brings convenient access to delicious vegan pizza but also serves as a platform for spreading awareness about plant-based eating and sustainability.
A defining feature of The Pizza Plant is its commitment to giving back. Inspired by the founderβs upbringing and personal experiences, the business donates one pizza for every pizza sold to those in need. This compassionate approach has led to ongoing partnerships with organizations like Union Station Homeless Services, where The Pizza Plant regularly donates pizzas to support homeless individuals and families. This model of βcompassionate capitalismβ reflects the companyβs mission to create positive social impact while delivering exceptional food.
The Pizza Plantβs founder, Marvin Acuna, was motivated to start the business after witnessing the health benefits of a plant-based diet firsthand. He helped a friend with severe heart and lung issues improve her health through plant-based nutrition, which inspired him to share this lifestyle with a broader audience. His parentsβ values of sharing abundance and helping others also deeply influenced the charitable aspect of the business.

The Pizza Plant offers some of the best pizza in California. If youβre considering the gluten-free option but are worried about receiving yet another thin cardboard like crust, fret not; the pizza plant had figured out a way to make beautifully soft and chewy crust which happens to be gluten-free.

Vegan and nut-free options available. Pizza Plant is housed with a couple of other restaurants and share the same kitchen. You order off a computer, which is really time consuming if you are making adjustments or have to report any allergens. The food: It was great! We got a fully green pizza and a mushroom pizza. They have nut free cheese options and they were very good. The chef came out to clarify a few things and it was very reassuring. I greatly appreciate thoughtfulness when it comes to allergies because many restaurants are still catching up. Drinks were expensive

super excited that there was a vegan Pizzeria in Pasadena but when I arrived I found the menu to be pretty expensive and the amount of pizza you get is small. The crust of the pizza was super processed it was a square pizza which I don't know it was kind of a turn-off we ended up getting like a barbecue pizza or something and it just wasn't that great for the price I keep on coming back to the price I expect I guess more food I understand that things are organic and they are using cashews but it just did not do it for me. Will i be back? If someone else pays plus i guess i will only order the traditional Italian pizza. Thtee Stars given for the fact that they make vegan food.

My first time there and the pizza was absolutely delicious! Plant-based pizza has reached a higher level of excellence. My meat-eating friend said it was one of the best pizzas she's ever had and that she never would have thought it was vegan. I was not only impressed by the pizza but also by the owner: he is donating pizzas to homeless shelters, so the more pizza you buy the more is donated. Great for the planet, for the animals, for you, and the homeless... what could be better?
